I am grateful to share my thoughts with you on this very important topic: Rescuing Atyap Youth from the Path of Destruction: The Way Out. I was asked to discuss the topic “Peer group Pressure: Sex, homosexuality and drug abuse and internet addiction.” I revised the topic not only to enlarge its objective, but also to make room for the real cause of unfortunate situation today and suggest solutions to the problems we seek to deal with.
Let me say from the onset that any society that does not think of its tomorrow is lost (Judges 2: 10-15). Therefore, the choice of theme by the organizers of this Conference shows that they are concerned about the future of our youth in Tyapland. The quality of people that a community, the country and the Church gets is determined by the orientation they receive right from childhood, but especially during their teen years. In our case, the story is not very encouraging, to put it mildly. That is what makes the theme of this Convention most appropriate.
In the field of medicine, every successful cure of an ailment begins with proper diagnosis of the illness, followed by proper prescription of the appropriate medicine and, finally, proper administration of the prescribed medicine. The same principle applies in dealing with any social problem for which solution is sought. This is the approach adopted in this presentation.
